Ashley Culbertson, PT, DPT, OCS
Ashley, originally from the Chicago land area, received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Bradley University in 2010. She has been practicing in the Peoria area for 6 years and joined Rock Valley in 2014. Ashley earned her Board Certification in Orthopedics in 2013 and specializes in treating runners, triathletes, and other sports-related injuries. She received her Bike Fitting Certification in 2015 and is excited to work with the greater Peoria area cyclists and triathletes. Ashley actively participates in triathlon events as well as local running events and is currently training for the Springfield Half-Ironman.
Jenelle Deatherage, PT, OCS
Originally from East Peoria, Jenelle won two state championships in cross country and track while in high school. Jenelle went on to become a 4-time All-American for the University of Wisconsin Badgers. She remained in Madison to study physical therapy and earned her master’s degree in 2003. Jenelle then moved to Minneapolis where she continued her running career professionally, competing in 3 Olympic Trials at the 1500m distance. During this time she worked part-time as a physical therapist and developed her skills treating injured runners as well as general orthopedic conditions. She earned her Board Certification in Orthopedics in 2010. She joined the Rock Valley Physical Therapy team in 2014 and practices at the north Knoxville location. She is excited to be back in the Peoria area where she, her husband and two daughters can spend time with her extended family.
Luke Acklie, PT, OCS, SCS, CSCS
Luke has been a Physical Therapist in the Peoria area for 16 years, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1999. He became certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA in 2000 and became a USAW Sports Performance Coach in 2007. In 2006, he met the requirements to be certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist through the APTA. In 2012, he met the requirements to be certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist through the APTA. He specializes in treating individuals with Orthopaedic and sports-related injuries with an emphasis on biomechanics and sport-specific training. Luke’s post-graduate certifications include the ASTYM technique. He is an active member in the Illinois Physical Therapy Association (IPTA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA.) He is an avid sports fan and enjoys fishing, traveling to Walt Disney World, and spending time with his wife, Liz, and two children.
Joe Terry, PT, CSCS
Joe Terry is a Physical Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified Sports Performance Coach and Club Coach by USA Weightlifting. He graduated from Bradley University with a Physical Therapy degree in 1994.
He is a guest lecturer for Bradley University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Joe lectures on the topics of Weightlifting, Speed Development, and Exercise Development. He provides post-graduate continuing education for area physical therapists and other rehab professionals. Joe has taught many courses from trunk stability (core strength) to exercise progressions for individuals with specific diagnoses. He is also a published researcher. His research investigates the functional mechanics of training methods and their effect on the athlete’s performance.
Joe has had an opportunity to work with over a thousand area athletes as both a coach and PT. He currently owns The Human Performance Lab in Germantown Hills, IL and works as a Physical Therapist for Rock Valley Physical Therapy. At The Lab, Joe trains athletes from junior high school to professional providing individual programs to prepare them for their competitions. Joe also trains fitness clients who are “competing in the sport of life.”
Joe’s international coaching experience includes 18 Professional Athletes, 4 Olympians (1 Gold and 1 Silver medalist), one 3x Paralympian, 5 National Champions, 4 All Americans, over 200 college athletes, and 31 Peoria Journal Star Players of the Year.
Katie McGregor
Katie grew up in Willoughby Ohio where she was a two-time state champion in the 1600m and 3200m. Following high school, she accepted a scholarship to the University of Michigan where she became one of the most decorated athletes in U of M history, winning 3 NCAA titles and earning a spot in the prestigious Athletic Department Hall of Fame.
Following her collegiate career, McGregor remained in Ann Arbor and continued to run professionally under sponsorship with Adidas. Two years later she moved to Minneapolis to join Team USA Minnesota, an emerging distance training center at the time. Following the move, she switched her sponsorship affiliation from Adidas to Reebok who would go on to support her throughout the remainder of her professional career.
McGregor’s long list of professional achievements over the following decade render her one of the most accomplished American distance runners of all time.
She is a 7-time US National Champion, a 10-time World Championship team member and the 2010 US Women’s Long Distance Runner of the Year.
Her personal bests include 15:22 for 5k, 31:21 for 10k, 1:11 for the half-marathon distance, and an impressive 2:31.01 on the New York City Marathon course.
Katie currently lives in suburban Minneapolis and works as an account manager for New Balance. She empowers other runners achieve their goals by taking on a handful of personal coaching clients. She is an avid reader, a Cross-Fitter, and a psycho Michigan fan who continues to run for fun and fitness.
Dan White, PT, DPT, OCS
Dan received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Iowa in Integrative Physiology in 2003 and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa in 2005. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as well as the Orthopedic Section of the APTA.
Dan was born in Dubuque,Iowa and went to high school in Bettendorf. He currently lives in LeClaire. Dan’s hobbies include spending time with his wife and children and running road races.
Nikki Steffes, PT, MPT
Nikki is originally from Assumption, IL and current lives in Moline, IA. She attended Northern Illinois University, receiving her BA in 2009 and her Masters in 2011. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, with special interest in Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in the Iowa Chapter. Nikki’s interest in running began during high school basketball. Her coach had the team run so much that she decided to join track in the spring. She continued to run throughout high school and began competing in triathlons in college. Nikki continues to compete in triathlons and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
